So, if it’s a good idea to test the students in this Catholic high school for drugs (by taking a sample of their hair), then it should be an equally good idea to test the FACULTY for drugs, too, right? So when does THAT begin? Would “never” be a good guess here?
I gotta tell ya, I am SO fucking sick of that “If you haven’t done anything wrong, what do you have to worry about?” logic. I’ve never done drugs in my life and I’ve never been drunk EVER, but I would greatly resent being told I had to consent to a bullshit test like this. Why? Precisely BECAUSE I’ve never taken drugs. Why should a person who has never, ever, taken “recreational” drugs have to submit to a drug test?
You’re going to say, “Because they have no way of knowing that,” aren’t you? Well, using that same logic, why can’t I accuse you of rape or robbing a bank? After all, I have no way of knowing that you’ve never done that, do I? Oh, suddenly you DON’T like the idea of Universal Accusation.
If I was the parent of a kid like me who has never taken drugs who was attending this school, I’d say, “I think this is bullshit. Just so you know that I’m not opposed to it because I’m afraid of the outcome, I will let my kid take this fucking stupid test once. Then, when the test comes back negative for drug use, I’m pulling my kid out of your Nazi school.”
We’re turning into a country of sheep, so terrified by the extremely unlikely possibility of being blown up by a crazy guy in a sheet that we’re willing to sacrifice every freedom and liberty we have under the Constitution.
Here’s my new slogan:
“You go be scared. I’ll wait here.”
