APPARENTLY, THIS POINT CANNOT BE MADE OFTEN ENOUGH

“SWAROVSKY” IS POLISH FOR “SHIT RICH PEOPLE BUY”

I won’t say yet again that dipping a turd in Swarovsky (it’s ALWAYS Swarovsky) crystals only results in a crystal-covered turd. Actually, I’ve never said that exact thing before, but I’ve kind of implied it.  Anyway, the sentiment stands.

Wake me when someone actually buys one of these things so I can stalk them and kill them when no one’s looking.  Even if I got caught, I can’t imagine any jury convicting me.  Certainly not a jury composed of people who work for a fucking living, anyway.

With each passing day, that whole French Revolution thing looks better and better.

ANOTHER OLD MAN THINKS HE OWNS THE WORLD

Time magazine film critic Richard Schickel:

“Criticism — and its humble cousin, reviewing — is not a democratic
activity. It is, or should be, an elite enterprise, ideally undertaken
by individuals who bring something to the party beyond their hasty,
instinctive opinions of a book (or any other cultural object). It is
work that requires disciplined taste, historical and theoretical
knowledge and a fairly deep sense of the author’s (or filmmaker’s or
painter’s) entire body of work, among other qualities.”

Allow me to translate that for you:

“I am a PROFESSIONAL film critic.  I work for Time magazine.  You, on the other hand, live in an efficiency apartment in the Bronx and post on the Internet while wearing your bathrobe.  You are clearly inferior to me, therefore your opinions have no validity.  Keep your worthless opinions to yourself, philistine.”

These guys are REALLY intimidated by the Internet, aren’t they?  Fuck ‘em.
